The terms Vastu Shastra refers to the science of architecture, wherein the emphasis is on the placement of objects and the property in order to bring in happiness and good health. The focus is on the right blend of natural and material objects. It can improve one’s health, lifestyle, and thought-process. So, here are 5 Vastu tips to fill your home with more positive energy.
Get rid of the clutter
Cleaning and de-cluttering is the most vital part of inviting/restoring peace at your abode. We say so because clutter restricts the flow of positive energy.
Hence, stop stuffing clothes, stationery, and other random items at your home. Throw away broken objects and donate the things that you don’t use anymore.
Regularly clean the house to reduce the effects of negative vibrations.
Mind the colours
The colours that you choose can play a significant role in making your house look soothing and beautiful.
Lighter tones such as white are the most preferred ones to bring some relaxing energy in your rooms. You can also try out earthy tones.
But since a completely white house can look boring, you may use lighter shades of any of the seven rainbow colours.
Go for a north-facing entrance
While constructing or buying a new home, give enough attention to the direction of the main door.
According to Vastu norms, the main entrance must be built in the north or northeast direction so that while leaving the house, your face remains in the same direction.
This is so because north and northeast directions are considered indicative of progress and victory in life.
Make way for sunlight
It is extremely important to let enough sunlight pass into the house, as it a source of Vitamin D, which is crucial for good health. It can also alleviate bad mood, stress, and depression symptoms.
So, make sure your home has plenty of windows and balconies.
Also, open blinds and draw curtains right in the morning to let sunlight embrace your house.
Add some mirrors
Decorating a house with mirrors in highly recommended by Vastu experts as they are known to reflect positive energy and bring in wealth.
However, the correct positioning of mirrors is vital for the best results.
Never place mirrors in front of the bed or facing towards the main entrance.
If there is no other option, position the mirror adjacent to the bed to avoid reflections.
Vastu shastra is primarily concerned with space. This is why scientific principles are widely adapted in Indian architectural use and design.
When it comes to sleeping direction, it’s believed that space (“panch bhutas”) directly interacts with the wind, sun, and other elements to affect our well-being.
The recommended sleeping direction per Vastu shastra is that you lie down with your head pointed southward.
A north-to-south body position is considered the worst direction. This is because the human head is considered to have a polar-like attraction, and it needs to face southward to attract opposite poles while you sleep.

Be A Better Boss While Your Employees WFH
Work from home culture is now a lifestyle. No matter how pleasant WFH seems, there are many pitfalls that come in the way. While employees are constantly struggling to adjust to the situation and balancing home chores and work, it is important how to boss the team in a WFH regime. As a boss, supporting your team while simultaneously getting work done is extremely important.
For employees, presently the drawbacks have taken over the benefits of this culture. While they save time and money on the commute, the problems they face include no clarity in working hours and more and more social isolation. The employer needs to figure ways to optimise work and leave ample personal space and time.
Regular Meetings/ Phone Calls
When the entire office is working in a distant mode, it becomes extremely important to stay connected. It could be a phone call, or over a Zoom meeting. It could be a pre-planned morning meeting or a well-planned meeting at the end of the day. And this must be well communicated to the employee. And then it is also the responsibility of the employee to answer and/or attend the meeting. This maintains the smoothness in operations and builds a transparent work culture.
Employ Tools That Enhance Communication
For a long time, we have been using Microsoft tools, like Excel, Word, Spreadsheet and Powerpoint Presentation. Now our scope has expanded to apps like Zoom, Google Duo, Discord, and Google Meet. Google Drive and Dropbox are on this list as well now. Further, organisational tools such as Notion, Trello and Evernote should not be forgotten. Slack is also a tool for messaging which allows quick conversations and interactions in a situation where time is the greatest resource.
Upholding Boundaries Between Work And Personal Life Of Your Employees
While we talk a lot about reducing stress at workplaces, many employers think that working at home means no stress at all. This has also given them the liberty to contact their employee at any point in the day. This leaves employees with no mental space to stay creative. On the contrary, it kills creativity. Respecting the timings, particularly after 9 PM becomes a protocol that must be followed. If you are dropping a mail at midnight, make sure to add phrases like, ‘we will continue this in the morning’, ‘no need to reply immediately’, ‘thank you for your additional working hours’.
Imbibe The Work From Home Culture Without Hostility
Now that the restrictions are being relaxed, make sure you safeguard and protect your employees. They are your biggest asset and if they get affected by the virus, your business will be at a halt. Allow your employees to choose what’s good for them. If they are comfortable working from home, let them. If they want to join the office, encourage them to wear masks and use sanitizers regularly. Be open to the work from home culture even when the pandemic is over.
