YouTube Star Nikkie De Jager released a new video on Monday titled “I’m Coming Out.” In it, she shares that she is transgender. Though she has kept this part of her life away from others, it is evident that she is happy to talk about it now. Read on to know more about the video!
NikkieTutorials shares her truth
Each coming out video is different in its own way. But there is something common in all of them. They are powerful, courageous, and inspiring. And Nikkie’s video is no exception either. Moreover, it leaves you feeling happy for her – and appreciate her incredible work even more.
Nikkie, for the most part, is a very private person. She has been posting on YouTube for eleven years now and still a lot of things about her life are relatively unknown. And so, keeping that in light – this video becomes even more special. She tells us of her experiences as a kid, how she began transitioning, etc.
Nikkie reiterates that she is still the person she always has been known for – that is still Nikkie. That part is touching yet emotional too. For a lot of people know all too well the fear of being judged in such situations.
But sadly, there is more to this…
In the video, Nikkie also revealed a very disturbing fact. She starts off the video by telling us she wanted to come out on her own terms. Apparently, she was being blackmailed. She was threatened with ‘releasing her truth.’ At first, she was very upset and disturbed by it. But slowly, she gathered her courage again and took power into her own hands. She chose to tell the world herself!
Reactions from friends, family, and fans
Nikkie tells us a lot about how the people in her life reacted to her story. Also, she thanks her mom for giving her the support and love she needed. Nikkie shared how her mother knew she was going to have a girl – and laughs about how that turned out to be true after all.
She also mentioned the conversation she had with her partner, Dylan Drossaers. It was difficult but she is glad they are able to have it in a healthy way.
The comments underneath her video were, for the most part, supportive and enthusiastic. Fans were glad to know more about her. And they shared their own stories, told her how much she means to them, etc. But of course, there were some hateful comments as well. To those, we say – let others live their truth! This hate and transphobia are ignorant and harmful in so many ways.
