How To Ditch The Monotonous Monday Routine

Published

on

Monday

Finding space for creative, generative action can seem impossible in the midst of so many requirements and expectations.

Why do we hate Mondays? Are there things we are doing or not doing during the weekend that makes our Mondays the worst? Stop and think about it. If you aren’t jumping out of bed Monday morning, there is a problem. “Living for the weekend” is not a long-term strategy. You cannot go through life accepting that 5 out of every 7 days are going to be spent doing some undesirable to you. And there is no clearer answer to that than how you feel first thing Monday morning.

Some of the things you could do to break the monotonous Monday routine are-

1. Stop what you are doing

We build so many expectations for the weekend during the week. We’ll travel, catch up with all the pending work, meet friends, party, read and whatnot. But as the weekend arrives we are paralyzed but the weight of our own exceptions. So, all we do is to sleep/ Netflix. And as the weekend fades away we try to hold on till the last possible moment. We stay up till late dreading Monday. But do we really need to save our lives for the weekend? A better approach will be to distribute our expectations throughout the week. Don’t overburden your weekend so much that it weighs you down.

2. Prepare the Day Before

People despise feeling overwhelmed, and yet so many fail to realize they do it to themselves. Failure to prepare means you are preparing to fail. Mondays are only overwhelming if you did not take Sunday to get all your ducks in a row. And the reason why most people choose not to do this is that whatever it is they’re doing isn’t enjoyable to them. Set a manageable goal throughout the week and look forward to something good the week ahead.

3. Get A Good Day Sleep

You need to fix your sleep. Period. With all the technology, blue lights, and distractions, sleep deprivation has become an epidemic. So, look at your sleep pattern. Use a wearable to track your sleep to see if you are getting enough sleep. A good sleep routine helps. Instead of watching TV, read. Listen to music. Meditate. Take 200 mg L-Theanine at the beginning of the phase. It takes about 30 days to reset your sleep cycle. The moment you fix your sleep you’ll immediately see improvements in everything else you do.

 4. Selective Social media

Browse through Instagram on a Monday morning and you’ll see half a dozen coffee cup quote graphics either sharing the pains of waking up on a Monday, or the relentless ambition one must possess in order to crush Mondays goals. What’s more important is, what do YOU want? How do YOU want to be spending your Monday? And then what can you do in order to bring that to fruition? Choose only positivity in your social media.

5. Read Your Favourite Book

Reading is the quickest, easiest, and most affordable escape from reality that you will ever get. And I don’t mean reading self-help blogs or news or non-fiction business books. I’m talking about fiction and fantasy books that transport you to a different world where your everyday problems cease to exist and your imagination goes into overdrive. Books are an instant portal to another dimension, one which can be accessed anywhere you may be.

There are a few other effective but unfeasible ways to break the monotony of your Monday. Moving to a new home or finding a new place to work from can help you change things for the better. One thing is clear though– if you find yourself stuck in a boring routine, only you can do something to get out of it. So pick one from this list and get going.

2 Minute Habits That Will Change Your Life For Good

Published

on

“Good Habits formed at youth make all the difference.” – Aristotle

We all have plans to get healthier and lead a happy life. But most of the time we don’t know where to start. When you’re not sure what direction to go, start small. You don’t have to revamp your whole life all at once. You can embark upon the journey toward a healthier lifestyle simply by incorporating any of these 10 healthy habits into your life today. They don’t take a ton of time, but they have tremendous health returns!

Have A Goal For The Day

Habits

set goal, make plan, work, stick to it, reach goal – a success concept presented with colorful sticky notes

It really only takes a couple of minutes to figure out what you need to get done each day. However, many people skip this important step, and therefore, try to get too much done in 24 hours. In turn, they feel frazzled, unfocused, and anxious. To alleviate those feelings, simply set realistic goals for the day so that you know where to focus your energy. This is perhaps one of the best pieces of lifestyle advice we could give you because focused energy has the power to totally change your life.

Make Lemon Your Friend

Habits

Your body needs to be rehydrated first thing in the morning. But swap out the ice water and add warm lemon water to your daily routine instead. Warm lemon water quenches thirst, preps and primes your digestive system, aids in detoxification and supplies a free-radical-crushing dose of vitamin C. Lemons may taste acidic, but they are actually alkaline-forming, helping the body maintain an ideal pH balance and neutralizing free radicals to keep you feeling vivacious and looking vibrant. Lemon water benefits the enzyme functions in your body, stimulating the liver and flushing out toxins.

Long Deep Breaths

Habits

When you feel anxious, you disrupt the ease and flow of your breath. You might not even notice these slight disruptions in your breathing pattern and how they affect you. But reestablishing normal breathing restores your energy and focus. To do this, breathe in through the nose for a count of five. Feel as though there’s a balloon that is filling your entire pelvis and causing it to stretch out in all directions. Hold that inhale for a moment, and when you exhale, contract all the muscles in and up the spine as you exhale for a count of five. Hold the exhale for a moment and repeat 10 times.

Move Every 1 Hour

When it comes to improving your movement, it’s not just about doing your workout for an hour in the morning and checking it off the list. Your body thrives on movement. More movement all throughout the day is highly beneficial for your body and brain. Mobility exercises help lubricate the joints to ward off stiffness, aid in circulation and help boost energy levels and increase focus and productivity. For every hour of sitting, aim for at least a few minutes of mobility drills, such as alternating between arm backstrokes and pelvic circles.

Make Gratitude A Habit

The society is constantly telling us we need to be more, do more, have more and achieve more. It can be depleting and depressing. Keep your vibe high and light by filtering out the noise and filling yourself up with gratitude throughout each day. Keep a journal in which you jot down what you’re grateful for each evening before bed or when you wake up in the morning. Try writing affirmations positive things about yourself and your life. Or write a thank-you note to someone to say how grateful you are to have him or her in your life.

Hope these habits take you along your goals. Related article- 6 Simple Eco-friendly Habits We Can All Adopt In 2019
