Now Fashion Is On Wheels Literally In Delhi

In the last few years, food trucks have blown up across the world as a fresh and innovative way to serve food. Mobile food business owners came up with diverse business concepts, from sushi bar trucks to mobile wood fired pizza. It is a fact that starting a food business is much more inexpensive in a mobile concession truck than starting a restaurant. Now the question we are asking today, is Are fashion trucks on that same path? We think the answer is, Yes!

Fashion trucks are mobile boutiques that have the option to travel from one location to another, opening their business on wheels and selling to customers just like that! Most fashion trucks have a fitting room and some are even equipped with air conditioning.

Reasons Why Fashion Trucks Are Amazing

1. Cost of the business -The initial investment for a boutique on wheels is about $30,000 to $60,000 versus at least a $100,000 investment in a traditional retail shop.

2. Freedom of choice– Potentially, in these types of trucks, you will be able to sell a variety of clothing, from representing the local designers’ fashions to your organic line of apparel. You can also participate in pop up shops and have other artists and businesses join you.

3. Flexible hours– You can choose your shop hours and maximize your working time during the busiest hours. In a traditional brick-and-mortar location, you must be in the store whether customers are coming in or not.

4. Reaching customers where they are– Participating in special events, you can find and connect with the right crowd of people who are interested in what you are selling. For example, if you sell upcycled clothing, it makes sense to be at an art show, or if you sell trendy clothing, a music festival might be a great spot for you.

The clothing line introduced by Masaba Gupta with detachable bags sends out a strong message on #BeatPlasticPollution

Known for her perfect blend of contemporary and novelty work with the traditional design. The very known Masaba Gupta is out here with a unique collection of designs. Under the clothing line of ‘I WILL CLEAR OUT PLASTIC’, she’s clearly providing a social statement through fashion. The collection is aimed to curtail single-use plastic, in collaboration with UNEP India and Ogilvy India.

In her interview with IANS, she mentions how easily one can communicate through fashion. It is followed and understood by such large groups of people and how easy it is to incorporate it into the daily lives. It is not only a sustainable method, but also a fun concept, and engaging at the same time. She also shares her experience of working for this idea.

UNEP India has been a major catalyst in India’s campaign against single-use plastic. Mostly, ever since #BeatPlasticPollution was launched on World Environment Day 2018 in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

This creative work of Masaba Gupta is aspired to decrease the use of plastic bags in an eccentric way!  As every garment is accompanied by an exclusive set of accessories. Here, each garment has, as an exclusive accessory, a detachable reusable bag that is a fashion statement by itself. It also acts as one of the fashion statements. She also mentions how the fashion industry is always linked to produce global wastage. Also, how it is time to change this by using fashion, as a tool for empowerment.

Masaba Gupta

However, the collection will be available in all The House of Masaba stores and will start from Rs 6000. This initiative is clearly targeting the metros, who can afford this price range. But Gupta seems pretty confident that this initiative will pick up to become a trend very soon!
