Deepika Padukone- The Real Hero Of Bollywood

Published

on

With Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming film, casting Deepika in the lead role, female-centric movies again gain momentum in the Bollywood industry. The movie is a victorious start to women raising their voice against male domination, looking “much beyond the bodice”. Powerful, smart, gorgeous and extremely talented Deepika Padukone in her character as “Malti” truly gives us chills as one looks through the trailer. Not to mention, a powerful character yearns for a robust actor. And DP undoubtedly justifies every iota of it.

Here are some more reasons why she is an absolute hero-

Deepika Padukone Stood In Solidarity Of Students

The actress’s visit came at a time when most of Bollywood’s A-listers have chosen to stay silent on the rising anger and protests across the country, opposing the CAA, NRC and acts of violence on university campuses. The star, who was in the National Capital for promotions of her upcoming film ‘Chhapaak’ showed up. Deepika’s presence on the university campus led to several trolls slamming her and calling it a promotional, PR stunt for her film. However, there was another section that lauded her for showing solidarity with the students. Several hashtags, both positive and negative, like #DeepikaPadukone, #IStandWithDeepika, #BoycottDeepikaPadukone and #BoycottChhapaak started trending on Twitter, following her visit.

Live Love Laugh Foundation

Deepika is not just a pretty face. There’s much more to her than what meets the eye. She’s not the usual Hindi film heroine. She speaks up against the practices she doesn’t like. Unlike any other celeb would have, Deepika chose to speak about the phase when she was struggling with depression. She made an effort to make people realize how common the disorder was. Deepika didn’t just talk about it but even went ahead and founded live laugh love foundation. This NGO works towards helping those who are dealing with depression. More power to her.

The Only Woman To Be On The Most-Followed Indians on Twitter List

Deepika Padukone

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi may continue to reign supreme on social media, with an unmatchable Twitter follower count, Bollywood personalities aren’t too far behind. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan fared second with his massive following of 31.6 million, and Bollywood’s Badshah Shah Rukh Khan placed third with 31 million followers. In the list filled with men, placed on the seventh spot, Deepika Padukone is the only woman on it with her 22.1 million followers, ranking higher than cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and superstar Hrithik Roshan. Also featured in the list are Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan.

Her Initial Days In Bollywood Was Difficult

For Deepika Padukone, a journey in Hindi films hasn’t been an easy ride. It is after many ups and downs that she has made it amongst the top actresses of Bollywood. But you would be surprised to know that even before she had stepped into the cinematic world, she was given strange career advice. At a recently held event, ‘Women Of Worth,’ Deepika revealed that someone had suggested that she get plastic surgery done before starting her career. With a lovely face like that, we wonder why Deepika would have been suggested something like this.

Family Is Her Biggest Priority

Deepika Padukone is at the top of her career. However, in an interview with DNA, the actress has been quoted as saying that she can very easily quit acting and lead a domesticated, happy family life away from the limelight, if she gets married. She adds that for her, nothing is more important than the relevance of family. Talking about the kind of family that she wants to have, Deepika says that she wants to have lots of children and that while she doesn’t know when it is going to happen, but she hopes that when it does, she is graceful about it. She elaborates that this is the only advice that her parents have given her and she would like to stick to it.

She Manages All Her Commitments With Grace

Deepika was shooting for 14 – 15 hours every day for her brand shoots. Her next movie is said to have about a month-long shooting schedule in the South of France. Deepika wanted to ensure she wraps up all her brand commitments before she leaves for the shoot. She was working extra hours to ensure she manages to wind up everything on her work front. She also has many brands like Axis bank, Loreal, Goibibo etc. Deepika is currently leading the brand circuit with 16 to 17 brands in her kitty.

A few years ago, we saw her playing with the greatest of ’em all, Roger Federer and it was a sight to be captured for posterity.
