All Your Denim Style Decoded

Denim

It’s difficult to find a garment as widely embraced, worn and loved the world over as jeans.

Ask any group of people why they wear denim and you will get a range of answers. For some they’re comfortable, durable and easy – for others they’re sexy and cool. Jeans mean different things to different people. Gone are the days of just wide leg and boot cut. Now we have an interesting array of styles that are able to fit into any particular event you are shopping for. With bell bottoms back in action along with the usual high-waisted, skinny, and boyfriend jeans, choosing a style has become just as important as choosing a wash. Besides, no one ever said too much choice in fashion was a bad thing.

Here we give you a detailed list of all the types of denim available. Let’s explore-

1. Skinny Jeans

Slim-fit pants or skinny jeans are a type of pants that are tailored to have narrow legs and small leg opening. Some skinny jeans are made with stretch denim.  So they are slim while others can have zippers on the leg openings. They are known for their figure-hugging silhouette—the snug fit starts at the waist and extends all the way to the ankle. However, most offer stretch so it’s easier to get your ankles into the smaller leg openings. They have a variety depending on your preference. Skinny jeans practically go with any of your tops.

2. Cigarette Denim

Cigarette Pants are one of the hottest trends in women’s clothing these days. Almost a slim fit pants but with a snug fit through the legs, ending in a small leg opening usually an inch or two above the ankles. Not quite skinny but not quite straight, these jeans are usually snug on the thigh area and then more relaxed over the calves. Would be perfect for college wear where you can just mismatch it with any top.

3. Cropped Wide-Legged Jeans

This cut has become more popular in recent years and is typically high-waisted, has roomy leg openings, and is cropped at the middle of the shin or lower. If you’re looking for pants that feel breezy and look cool with sneakers, these will become your go-to. They’re the relaxed version of your usual skinny jeans, just like spring, you is the relaxed version of winter you.

4. Boyfriend Jeans

These jeans are insanely comfortable thanks to their slightly baggy fit. Many come with the hem cuffed or you can choose to roll them down for more ankle coverage. These are the ultimate casual-chic jean style, especially when worn with loafers. The term boyfriend jeans mean they were stolen or borrowed from your boyfriend. They also have a looser fit than your traditional women’s jean. They ideally complement your figure and look good as part of your overall style.

5. Bell Bottomed Denims

Bell-bottom jeans receive their namesake by their unique design in which the trousers become wider past the knees, forming the shape of a bell. This silhouette is similar to bootcut jeans except that the flare is more exaggerated. Popularized in the ’70s, the bohemian style is making quite the comeback on the runways. Lately, we’ve been seeing a handful of celebrities in bell-bottom jeans that have us reconsidering the denim.

Now Fashion Is On Wheels Literally In Delhi

Published

fashion

In the last few years, food trucks have blown up across the world as a fresh and innovative way to serve food. Mobile food business owners came up with diverse business concepts, from sushi bar trucks to mobile wood fired pizza. It is a fact that starting a food business is much more inexpensive in a mobile concession truck than starting a restaurant. Now the question we are asking today, is Are fashion trucks on that same path? We think the answer is, Yes!

Fashion trucks are mobile boutiques that have the option to travel from one location to another, opening their business on wheels and selling to customers just like that! Most fashion trucks have a fitting room and some are even equipped with air conditioning.

Reasons Why Fashion Trucks Are Amazing

1. Cost of the business -The initial investment for a boutique on wheels is about $30,000 to $60,000 versus at least a $100,000 investment in a traditional retail shop.

2. Freedom of choice– Potentially, in these types of trucks, you will be able to sell a variety of clothing, from representing the local designers’ fashions to your organic line of apparel. You can also participate in pop up shops and have other artists and businesses join you.

3. Flexible hours– You can choose your shop hours and maximize your working time during the busiest hours. In a traditional brick-and-mortar location, you must be in the store whether customers are coming in or not.

4. Reaching customers where they are– Participating in special events, you can find and connect with the right crowd of people who are interested in what you are selling. For example, if you sell upcycled clothing, it makes sense to be at an art show, or if you sell trendy clothing, a music festival might be a great spot for you.

The clothing line introduced by Masaba Gupta with detachable bags sends out a strong message on #BeatPlasticPollution

Known for her perfect blend of contemporary and novelty work with the traditional design. The very known Masaba Gupta is out here with a unique collection of designs. Under the clothing line of ‘I WILL CLEAR OUT PLASTIC’, she’s clearly providing a social statement through fashion. The collection is aimed to curtail single-use plastic, in collaboration with UNEP India and Ogilvy India.

VISION

In her interview with IANS, she mentions how easily one can communicate through fashion. It is followed and understood by such large groups of people and how easy it is to incorporate it into the daily lives. It is not only a sustainable method, but also a fun concept, and engaging at the same time. She also shares her experience of working for this idea.

UNEP India has been a major catalyst in India’s campaign against single-use plastic. Mostly, ever since #BeatPlasticPollution was launched on World Environment Day 2018 in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

This creative work of Masaba Gupta is aspired to decrease the use of plastic bags in an eccentric way!  As every garment is accompanied by an exclusive set of accessories. Here, each garment has, as an exclusive accessory, a detachable reusable bag that is a fashion statement by itself. It also acts as one of the fashion statements. She also mentions how the fashion industry is always linked to produce global wastage. Also, how it is time to change this by using fashion, as a tool for empowerment.

Masaba Gupta

However, the collection will be available in all The House of Masaba stores and will start from Rs 6000. This initiative is clearly targeting the metros, who can afford this price range. But Gupta seems pretty confident that this initiative will pick up to become a trend very soon!
